Our first test objective was a 16 hour result. The first colonies were spotted at the 13 hour mark, but were not photographed untill a strong showing of growth was clearly visable.

Our second test objective was to obtain the earliest results possible. 3 samples were incubated at the same time: 1 sample showed results in 11 hours and 56 minutes; all 3 samples showed results at 12hours and 46 minutes.

Our third test objective was again to obtain the earliest results possible. 4 samples were incubated at the same time: 1 sample showed results in 10 hours and 35 minutes; 3 samples showed results at 12hours and 19 minutes.
2 trials were undertaken to test the effect of water bath at 115-122 degree incubation for the rapid recovery of E, coli from water field samples. Both trials broke the 16 hour benchmark by at least 3 hours.
Our tests show that rapid recovery of E, coli from field samples in less than 16 hours is common with E. coli Quantitube® and this method.
